i think it's seldom in life that we experience something and can unequivocally say at the time we are having the experience, "this is the best _______" i've ever had.

was reflecting on this recently as my wife and i had what we both agreed was the best italian meal we've ever eaten. ironically, le grand venise, a family owned restaurant, was in paris of all places.

the food, both quality and quantity, was unlike anything i had experienced before (she had eaten there once previously).

during that meal, we started to think about other things we'd experienced in our lives that we could clearly state was the best we'd ever had and the thought occurred to me it would make for an interesting question on yahoo answers.

so, what is the best ________ you ever experienced? can be a meal, a trip, a class, a movie, a day, a conversation, etc.

the best answer will be selected based on the answerer's ability to help us appreciate why the experience was so special.

The best and most relaxing trip I have ever been on to this date was a trip I took to a little coastal town in Oregon called Manzanita last summer. We (my family & I) went with another family that we are really good friends with and spent about 5 days there - we felt so relaxed we didn't want to go home - we didn't want the week to end!
