Good for YOU! I applaud your desire to be independent and not a moocher....
okay, there are many, many ways to do this; first, take stock of your abilities and preferences. if you like child care, babysitting is one way-but be smart, offer to keep the children at your house-if your parents agree-and sit for more than one family at a time to double your income. the kids will love it, you can pop in a video, get out games or crayons and coloring books, and let them have a blast. keep them busy and give them good snacks and you are guarenteed much repeat business.
you can also do lawn work or housecleaning or window washing, and set your own prices. Do pet care or walk dogs, and again, walk several at the same time to increase your intake per hour.
check out a book called "Extra Cash for Kids" for many more ideas. one kid arranged to go business-to-business and clean the fish tanks in offices, and he earned about $10 an hour or more.

I started as a dish washer at a local bar and restaurant when I was 13. I worked in a couple different restaurants to for the next 5 years as a line cook. If you ever saw the movie "Waiting". It was exactly like that except all the dish washers were more like the bus boys Nick and T-bone in the movie. I was getting pretty good pay too (for my age anyway) because it was all under the table. Plus some really good memories. Good times
Girls at that age worked as bus girls and then on to waiting tables.
Guys mostly stayed in the kitchen doing dishes prep work and salads and then line cook. BTW, the five second rule is used quite often in restaurant kitchens.

I had a garage sale about 2 weeks ago. I only made about $30. My son who is only 8, went out and got a cooler filled with ice, and took a case of soda i had, and put it in the cooler. He sold them at my garage sale for a dollar a piece. I could not believe that they sold...lol... I ended up having to go to the store and I bought 2 more cases, and by the end of the day, he sold out. I had advertised my garage sale in our local advertiser for only $2. My son really made a killing and MY garage sale...LMAO.. He had enough to take him and his friends all out to the movies, and to buy snacks popcorn, etc. Sounds simple, and it was.. Go for it.
Have your garage sale on the hottest day possible...lol. If you have a younger brother or sister, dress them really cute and have them help you. Everyone is a sucker for a cute kid...=)

ask friends/neighbors if they have any chores that need done for some cash...other ideas: walk dogs, help some-one with their computer if they aren't computer savvy, babysit, petsit, yardwork, cleaning, wash cars....try making a list of your talents and see how you can turn them into money makers...example: if you're good in school, you could be a tutor....
