Online is CHEAP! but... if you are leery or want to make sure of what you get...
Look In your local newspapers Classified Ads (today is the busiest day for Ads sometimes) and unlike E-Bay or online, the person/company who's used it can tell you what they used it for, how well it works, why they are getting rid of it. or go to your nearby large-scale Fleamarket or Traveling Electronics show, some computers are sold there by persons who have booth just for that sort of thing.
Take a friend who's good with computers with you when you go to look them over and "test drive" them.
