White collar criminals are, as a rule, non-violent people who commit crimes against property involving money and fraud. Violent criminals may also commit property crimes, but they frequently also commit the most violent crimes up to and including murder and other heinous crimes. White collar criminals are often sent to low or medium security prisons. Hardened criminals are sent to maximum security prisons.
