I would say the odd animal in question would be a Chincilla. They are not your ordinary household pet.

A goat. I have had pet goats before and they do not realize they are a goat. They act more like a dog. We had 2 baby goats that would go walking with me and my 2 kids. Everyone would stop and look.

A racoon. They can be liter box trained and purr like a cat and are VERY affectionate. They will hug you and comb your hair with their long fingers. Really a cool critters, but must by licensed thru the DNR.
