Hi!
I have to go with Lynne23. "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" really changed my life. I look at the world differently now and really see the people around me, pondering the impact I might have on their lives... even the people I just pass on the sidewalk. Sometimes at night, when I lay in bed, I reflect on my life and wonder who my 'five people' would be.

I read a triology by Francine Rivers called The Mark Of The Lion series. I cried with the characters and for them, I was moved so much. The stories are touching and beautifully written. The history in the books sticks with you because when you read an unfamiliar historical term in the story and can look up the definition in the backs of the books.
The first book is about a girl captured in the fall of Jerusalem and made a slave in a wealthy household in Rome, where she falls in love with one of her captors.
The second is a continuation of the stories of some of the characters from the first book.
The third book is about a gladiator who was briefly introduced in the first book.

King Fortis the Brave. It is about a pair of twins who are brought to a magical land. Rodney, the boy twin, is mistaken for the legendary King Fortis, whose return has been prophesized. The land has been enslaved by Haeron, a wicked sorceress and the twins find themselves unwilling participants in the battle to defeat the sorceress. It's really a great book full of humor and action and the characters are so realistic that the book really touched my heart.

While I've read many books that have touched me in one way or another, there is one book that really touched my heart. That book is "A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer. I'd dare anyone to read that book and not be touched.

Letters on the Aesthetic Education of Man, by Schiller.
It's actually a philosophy text, but it's just gorgeous the way little words can give you so mich beauty. My heart was happy after reading a few sections, and I hope someone reads this and is equally inspired.

All of Barbara Kingsolver's books, especially the Poisonwood Bible. She writes in a style that is easy to read, and her characters are vivid, real people. As you read you become very involved in the characters lives to the point of tears. The stories are all about strong women and how they interact with the world and the men in their lives.
