The store he works at is owned by a family member and they know of his history. Is it up to the owner or someone else to do something about it.

Registered sex offenders are not to be around minors unless that minor is a direct relative of the offender, and even then there are rules as to nature/duration of contact.

However, if the minors that he is working with are above the age of consent in your state, it is possible that there is an exception in the guidelines given to him based on his original crime. There are some levels of sex offender status that allow the person to have contact with minors in certain circumstances provided the minor is over the legal age of consent.

Since you do not know the specific guidelines of his registration status, contact your local law enforcement agency and tell them what's going on. They will be able to determine if he is violating the terms of his registration and then they will take any actions that need to be taken from there.

Report this and make certain the children are safe and bring it to the attention of the people allowing this to happen.

I have heard and I believe that this is an area of psyche that cannot be cured - in other words, once a molester, always a molester.

If he has paid his time and is not on probation, doubtful you can legally remove him, but make your community acutely aware of this situation. I know I would not let a child go within 100 yards of someone like that, much less be supervised, even if they did do their time.

They're not supposed to be able to but there are a lot of people who don't do background checks. Didn't you know that some department store Santa's are sex offender.

This needs to be fixed. Anywhere you come in contact with children, they should have to get thorough background checks and disallow any and all sex offenders.

Additional:

You should report him to the police, and to a social worker. You should also notify the parents of the children he works with. This is unsafe, and there children are in danger.

In my experience as a Tutor and adviser to children and also mentoring other tutors who were ex-convicts and ex-abusers...not to say I had a hatred towards them I was only mildly suspicious. But giving them time to interact with the children and see the affection they have for their teacher, the children to this day(most are 20-25) have showed no signs of abuse physically or mentally and have made productive lives for themselves,so in essence my answer is yes.

I BELIVE IN CA THAT WOULD BE A DIRECT VIOLATION OF HIS REGISTRATION . AS WE HAD A CASE OF A SEX OFFENDER TAKING A JOB THAT PUT HIM IN CONTACT WITH CHILDREN AND THAT WAS A VIOLATION FOR HIM.
