I know we're involved with the United Nations and we have agreements with them. However, why are we always the one's who is sending majority of our army in other countries. Germany didn't send anybody to fight, they sent people to aid for food and other things but not for fighting. Germany is pretty smart. You can help a war without fighting. America wants to fight all the time. Why? We need to fight our war in America, poverty, crime, AIDS and health concerns with our American citizens. Take care of home first before you go take care of some outsiders! Does anybody agree?

The whole white-hatted virtuous cowboy thing seems to be the way a lot of people in the U.S government have thought of themselves for years. Look at the common misconception that the U.S won the second world war virtually single handed. America as a relatively new nation had to rapidly forge a strong national identity to succeed and adopted the pioneering freedom loving image that is now inseparable from American national identity. "Home of the brave, land of the free" - leaves successive governments a burden of responsibility to be super heroes, and if there are no foes at home, then go and rescue the poor and oppressed in other countries.
Also during the cold war they would do anything, anywhere to stop the dreaded communists, and now securing the oil supply is a major factor in where they choose to fight (see Kuwait) Unfortunately 9/11 made one sixth of the worlds population fundamentally an enemy of America.
As the most powerful nation on Earth, the U.S will always have the most enemies, smaller nations such as Germany have a completely different national identity and do not feel the same pressure to act as the U.S does. It has turned into a catch 22 situation. America started along this path decades ago,and now it cannot stop. Other minor players can come and go without it being such a big deal. What a mess.
