No, but it should be. It was a novel idea that the world wasn't mature enough for at the time. The UN was created to prevent
WWW 3 and it can't accomplish that. We handle most of the cost for a Broken System. When America wakes up a realizes
the UN is a Money Blackwhole and we can get more done
without it. We should just work with NATO, this is a good system.

The UN knows if the US was able to bring demcracy to the world, there would be no need for the UN, so the UN is scared of that and the US.

the un united nations are a worthless waste of skin. Had earlier UN resolutions been enforced the current world problems would not exist. The UUN should be afraid of the resolve of all nations actually fighting the real war against cowardly radical terrorists.

Not anymore. It used to be, but there are too many people on the major councils now that don't like the U.S. and take any opportunity to thwart the U.S. Case in point is the first Persian Gulf War. We stopped short of Baghdad because of pressure from the U.N. and had to go back later to finish the job.

No, I think it has more to do witht the fact that the U.S. considers itself above the U.N. We don't mind the U.N. telling other countries what to do, but what are they going to do to us? Sanctions? It just goes to show that the U.N. truly isn't a viable organization. It's part of the curse of being the last superpower, our leadership becomes arrogant and looks down upon the rest of the world...

P.S. This is to the people answering the questions: If you are going to use words you don't know how to spell, it will be assumed you don't know what they mean...

I think the only thing the U.N. fears is that the U.S. will decided to stop its funding or simply withdraw. Without U.S. funding ... the U.N. would dry up and blow away.

Despite that, the U.N. opposes the U.S. on virtually every issue ... often siding with nations that fund, hide or sponsor terrorism.

The ONLY thing the U.N. is good for is rhetorical posturing. And corruption, of course.

It was a great idea when it began ... but it became so much verbiage and posturing that its utility ended years ago.

The problem with the U.N is that its scared of everything and everyone, does not have a cohesive military option, concensus on the security council, or policy.

If it did the USA would not have to act like the world policeman.

The UN is like a toothless old Tiger,it growls and snarls but has no bite.It has out lived its usefulness. Time to try something that works .

NO. The UN is just worthless, toothless and rudderless. It doesn't even flail in desperation because flailing would require a two thirds majority vote. They don't accomplish anything because they are not designed to accomplish anything.
