We travel in to the future every day,and we can count backwards. Is it not possible that some physics Profeesor someday may figure out that time travel is indeed possible?

At one time,Physics Professors said human flight wasn't possible, that is before the Wright Brothers invented the airplane.

Emanuela made a nice point:How can our brains remember if traveling into the past isn't possible?

There is an article by the noted science fiction author Larry Niven, based on a presentation he made at MIT, The Theory and Practice of Time Travel. He notes, if cause and effect work, then time travel is not possible. He postulates a kind of inertia to time, such that cause and effect work to prevent time travel from being possible.
This topic is also dealt with in his short story Rotating Cylinders and the Possibility of Global Causation Violation (the title was taken directly from a mathematics paper.)
I also address the existence of tachyons in one of my recent answers, which I commend to your attention. Scientific American did an article or two upon the possibility of tachyons from cosmic rays, years ago. I don't know whether they went any further with their researches.
So anyway, good luck. Consider this two answers in one!

Actually there is no thing as passing time. There is no past, present or future. There is only timelessness. The passing of time that we experience here is an illusion (maya). Quantum Physics talks about the every expanding universe, where calculations indicate that there cannot really be anything like passing time!! Check out more at: http://everythingforever.com/ . You'll learn about timelessness and time travel there.
There are instances where people have travelled back into the past or ahead into the future during near death experiences. The Hindu Vedas suggest that our being is truly one of timelessness. Meditation techniques like TM, Kundalini Yoga, etc. help us go into deeper levels of our minds, whereby we reach a level that transcends our earthly time and help us 'feel' the real timelessness that is the reality. But of course, it's difficult to reach those levels. When you do, you become enlightened. You realise God!!

Yes, it is theoretically possible. For further reading just do a search in any scientific paper for the term, "Tachyon".
However, a time travel machine will never be invented or used. How do I know? Think about it. If a time machine were ever invented surely the traveler would come back in time and tell us about the future or give us useful cures.
If you don't believe me, the try this. Have your kids promise that if ever a time machine were to be invented, they should get access to it and come back to this exact moment you are reading this. Did a time machine just appear in front of you? If so, then woo-hoo you got a free time machine, but more likely one didn't which proves a time machine will never be invented.

Time travel is not only possible but is actually happening!
Einstein postulated the theory that if two identical clocks are checked to be equally accurate and set to the same time and one is kept on Earth whilst the other is taken space at high speed there will be a recordable difference between them. This has been proved to be true and even works on aeroplane flights except the difference is in nano seconds.

With the known physics of today it is possible to travel into the future. All you have to do a board a space ship, accelerate to close the spped of light and when you return to earth much more time will have passed here than for you.
It is not so easy to go backwards and only seems to be possible on the scale of the very small within the event horizons of balck holes.

Of course it is, and many people do it regularly. It's just that some people don't know they're doing it. AND, I believe, with a great degree of certainty, that having asked this question,YOU TOO have been "time traveling", but you just don't realize it, and can't remember how you did it. AND, I can promise you, you'll do it again, and maybe again not realize that you did it. It's not the "time traveling" that's hard to do, it's the realizing that you ARE DOING IT from time to time, and can't remember how you got started and how you returned to present time. But since I had to figure it out by myself, I'm going to let you figure it out by yourself too. Why? Not so much because I'm mean (hahaa) but because I TRULY believe that, once I found out how I did it, it was sooooo much more valuable to me, and I'll NEVER forget. And neither will you. Enjoy you forays in time. I know you love them, and you'll love them again. And when you realize HOW you did it, and then it becomes well within your control to do it anytime you want, you're gonna really love your capabilities. Oh, and NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL are required. Your time travel capabilities are COMPLETELY NATURAL!!! God Bless you.

Do you remember what you did yesterday? If so you just traveled to the past. Think about this one. If you were to instantly travel back through time 24 hours, WHERE would you be? If you travel strictly in time, the earth will not have arrived at it's current position in space yet. (yes I know, the writers of Dr.Who have already covered this).

traveling at the speed of light or better is a quest of many intellectuals in the science field.
space travel is fast. but direct transference is a question
worth asking -----------beam me up scotty may not be a line from a space movie in the future. Think of going to the transport room for a trip to England or Australia or the hawaian islands our vacations would be longer ( no travel time )
direct transference is moving a thing from place to place
in seconds

We can only travel into the future. However, in the present (soon to be past), we are able to build a better tomorrow today... It's all about making good choices...
