An honest answer from a foreigner's perspective? OK, good decent friendly people. Hard-working girls. Perhaps a bit too casual about future--today is the day to celebrate! Government's policy of having cheap alcohol and tobacco and expensive medicare and education is taking its toll. School drop-outs working in petrol filling stations is very common sight. I stayed in Mindanao for about 17 months.

I spent some time in P.I., and it was a very nice place. The standard of living isn't too good, but the people are wonderful. The food is great, always made from fresh ingredients due to a lack of available refrigeration. Beautiful countryside and beaches are everywhere. Most people enjoy the simple things in life, since that's all they have. But health care is a hard item to get unless money is available, so a lot of home remedies are used which may, or may not, really work. Dental works the same way. Equality of the sexes is almost nonexistent. Although cleanliness and hygiene are high priorities, I've seen the hand pumped well positioned ten feet from the sewage pond. So there's a lot of disease which could be remedied. There's also a lot more funerals than normal for the same reasons. But the people are very nice, and the food, especially fish, prawns, rice, pancit and lumpia, is delicious.

I've known quite a few Filipinos and Filipinas and while it's foolish to make a general statement about a whole country, I will say that some characteristics do seem to be widespread.
1. resourceful
2. hard-working
3. bright
4. very friendly and helpful
Now for the bad news:
1.insecure
2. clannish
3. prone to big mood swings
4. boastful
Again, it's silly to try to describe a whole population this way, but what the heck - you asked.

I've met a lot of filipinos who were born in the Phillipines. And my impression is that they like to socialize a lot. And they are good people to be friends with.

I'm from Canada and I'm a Filipino. I know we work very hard at our jobs and many employers prefer to hire Filipinos because they know we're going to work hard.

Filipinos are okay... some are irritating, some are nice. The filipinos I know, know nothing about their culture, and are white-washed.
Native filipinos are buck naked. I like it.
