the hollies were part of the british invasion in the 60s...their name was a tribute to rock and roll legend buddy holly..."bus stop", "carrie anne", "look through any window" were just a few of their hits in the 60s...they went through numerous personel changes and continued having hits innto the 70s..."long cool woman in a black dress"..."the air that i breathe"...

they went their separate ways in the early 70s, but a few oroginal members did re-unite briefly in the early 80s and had a minor top 40 with a remake of "stop! in the name of love"...and then they went their separate ways again...

hope that helps...

No,KENMAN is wrong. They weren't named after Buddy Holly - they were named after Christmas holly. (source: as below) I remember them as the Merseyside beat group with the boy-next-door image, and neat creases ironed on their bluejeans. The tunes I can remember (of their own compositions) were 'Carrie Anne' (1967) and 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' in the 1970s (they revived it in 1988). One of their founder members (1959) was Graham Nash, who 'escaped' to the USA. He was the Nash in Crosby, Stills, Nash.
