Not only is she incompetent at diplomacy but she was incompetent as our National Security Advisor.
(but then look at the appointments of John Bolton or Eliot Abrams.....I rest my case!)

She is incapable of carrying out "Bush's type of diplomacy". Everyone in the Middle-East hates us. We have bucked the UN's policy on peace talks, not because Israel is our friend, but because we want to see Israel squash Hezbollah, an islamic terrorist. Therefore, up until Condi's trip abroad, we had been claiming Israel should be able to defend it's self against Lebannon. This of course, was a ridiculous argument since most of the casualties were in Lebannon (not Israel), and most of the casualties were civilians.
As a nation, we can no longer 'advocate' Israel's bombings. It makes us look very bad to other nations. We have made some very serious (and irreversable) mistakes in Bush's war against terrorists. We have disregarded the UN Security Council's policy of maintaining peace, when we went into Iraq (unilaterally), before UN weapons inspectors could complete a search for WMD. And of course, we know how that ended. We also went against the UNSC, & other world leaders, when we opened secret prisons and detained citizens from other nations, without due process, to (torture?) them. This goes against the Geneva Convention, which we helped to create. Bush's excuse? They were civilians, not military, therefore the policies under the Geneva Convention did not apply to them. The Supreme Court said otherwise.
How can we possibly spread democracy to other parts of the world, when our own democracy is at risk of toppling? Where presidency's can be bought, (or stolen), where Congress no longer bows to the will of the people, and we have no rights as to how our tax money is spent?

I wouldn't call that fleeing...she's not leaving with her tail between her legs. Tragedy called the meeting off...not incompetence. Dr. Rice..don't know how anyone could not like this woman..she is the American dream. She overcame so much to get where she is today...and did it through sheer will and intelligence. Man..I kind of sound like a groupie....

Fantatstic one. I have said she is an overpromoted poodle of the Bush administration. I suspect Affirmative action gone wrong. She is the token black and token woman in this administration and you shouldn't forget a Religious Right bigot and hypocrite. Allowing the Israeli's to commit mass murder and giving her address this morning with tears in her eyes and a quaky voice. HYPOCRITE.
lucky_j_2003, I am deeply jealous, because I always thought I was.

She went because the rest of the world pissed and moaned that America wasn't helping. Nothing was solved.. just like we all knew was going to happen before she even went. Quick....call Madeline Albright! She could convince Israel to donate money to its enemies and allow Hezbollah prepositioned firing platforms on the border. It's all about the mice. The mice want us to fight..so we fight.
