I have seen numerous questions and answers on this site calling the President, Republicans, Conservatives, Christians and Jews "stupid", and far worse. Yet if someone asks or answers a question from a Conservative point of view, Liberals run crying to the Yahoo Answers staff saying the are "insulted". This happens especially when the posting is valid and presented in a decent and sensible way. Why is it that Liberals are always touting themselves as "tolerant", "open minded" and "against censorship", but are the first to do anything they can to silence a legitimate, opposing point of view? I always see questions and answers on this site that I find insulting and offensive to my belief system. Most of them just hateful name calling with no valid point to make at all. However, I do not "report" any of these because this is America, and, unlike many Liberals, I believe in Free Speech for all, not just myself. What's the matter, are your positions so weak that they cannot withstand debate?

The only abuse I have reported were postings I thought were exploiting minors, or denigrating minorities, and they were not removed. It would seem that Yahoo answers is safe for pedophiles and racists, but not for Conservatives.

I will admit that I do see some answers and questions from the Right that are rude and hateful. These are insulting to me as well, and they give a bad name to real Conservatives. However, I do not see answers like that being reported. It is only answers that make a solid point in a decent way that I see being removed. Which draws me to conclude that Liberals are afraid of a true intellectual debate.

The answers I posted that were removed were well thought out, and I made every effort to be respectful. I believe I made valid points and did not insult anyone. That is why I believe they were removed. I agree, that there is a lot of worthless chest thumping from both sides. However, I, myself, am interested in encouraging a higher minded debate. Neither name calling or censorship will never allow us to have that debate.

It seems to be that way. I've noticed that in other forums, like Live Journal, as well. I don't know if it's just the on-line community, or if it really like this in real life (I've never met anyone in real life that is as hateful and narrow minded as they are on-line).

Although those on the 'right' side of the fence can also be hateful and insulting (the insults are usually patronizing in nature-not so bad)...it is nowhere near as frequent as the insults hurled from the 'left.'

The fact is, hardcore liberal ideology is only tolerant if one shares the same view. If, for example, you are against abortion-that automatically makes you 'anti-choice' and some will go so far to say, 'anti-women' when that is simply not the case. They are very quick with the labels for opposing viewpoints.

I don't know why this is a common trend among liberals.

I have met some wonderful people on-line who are liberal and they do not take offense if I challenge or ask an honest question about their view and do not retaliate when I spout my views...they simply respond politely with why they disagree. I really appreciate that because I honestly want to hear what they have to say. But I have no patience for the insults, name-calling and assumptions.

Bob--

You need to look at some questions asked by your side that aren't rational in the least, or at the many nutty and/or insulting responses to questions with a liberal POV. I see this type of behavior on both sides. You should look up another current question that's almost identical to yours by another user from your side of the fence. Then look up his other questions and tell me all conservatives posting here present coherent arguments or pose genuine, honest questions for open discussion.

I agree 100% that there are lefties posting questions and answers here that make very little sense or are just saying "Hooray for our side." I don't agree that it's limited to them, though. Conservatives post at least as much of this garbage here as the Liberals do. I can't speak for anyone else but if you or other conservatives post intelligent, thoughtful questions I know I would be willing to discuss them in the same way.

I've never reported anyone for anything personally--I don't even know how. Hate speech or other stuff that pushes the limits of good taste or sense reveals itself to be ignorant and doesn't require any more control or acknowledgement on anybody else's part. My two cents.

Apparently you’re another deluded Republican. Democrats offer intellectual responses while Republicans call names, have no platform for their opinions, and do more dishing out than Democrats.
