Change her position. My son ALWAYS burped when I saw him on my knee, leaned him forward and held his chest with my palm and rested his chin between my thumb and pointer finger. The pat and rub method helps also!

Try sitting her up on your lap with your fingers around her chin and your palm on her chest. Lay her down then back up a few times then pat her back. I would pat from the bottom upward and rub in that direction as well.

If you can't get her to burp but then gets gas pain try this-You could try lying her down and pumping her legs up to her tummy. Also something like a warm rice bag on the tummy helps with gas pain. Not to mention gas drops help too!

I think some kids just don't burp every time though.

Just light rubbing and patting on her back. Upward strokes on my daughters back seemed to help. Some supervised tummy time after she's sat up for about 30 minutes after eatting. Switching shoulders or laying her down and picking her back up will do the trick to. When I tried everything to get her to burpand nothing worked I would sit her on my leg and hold her neck/head with one hand and pat/rub with the other. I only used that method when she had good control of her head/neack muscles.

Oh, Sometimes just letting Grandma hold her will do the trick......I swear whenever my mom held my daughter after me patting/rubbing for minutes and no burp she would burp instantly for her!!

If I couldn't get my children to burp the normal ways (laying on my shoulder patting the back or laying across my legs also patting the back) I would do "baby sit-ups" with them. What I would do is sit them sideways in my lap and then lower their back to my legs and then up again like they were doing sit-ups, paying particular attention that their head was well supported. I had one hand on the back of their neck and one hand in the front going across their chest under their arms. This would help push the bubble up.

Try leaning a little while gently patting her back mom... usually, newborns burp quietly... you never seem to notice when they're done burping... however, when my baby was still little, I used to let her lie on her chest to a pillow on my lap and pat her back using a gentle chopping motion that went up then down her back... gently.... That seemed to work with her... Good luck mom.

That's about all you can do -- just up on your shoulder or sitting on your knee. My 3 month old doesn't burp every single time he eats. I pat him on the back for a few minutes and then move on with my day!! Good Luck! :)

If your baby does not burp within 3 to 5 minutes, he/she most likely does not need to burp. Babies do not need to burp every time they eat. Sometimes when they eat, they swallow air in the process, when this occurs, they need to burp. However, they dont always swallow air. Dont try to burp your baby for hours! There is no need! If she/he doesnt burp after a few minutes, don't worry about it. He/she probably didnt swallow any air.

unless he's a colic-prone child. don't stress about it, try to burp him and if it doesnt work, oh well. move on with your day.

both my kids were never really burpped, they would usually eventually do this by themselves, even at just a month old without my having the physically burp them

gently rub and pat, they dont always need to burp after every feed, if they start getting a blue tinge round their mouth then thats when they really need to belch!
