I am very proud of my home land. America. I have been living in Scotland for almost two years and have learned a lot about my country from living with people who think the know who Americans are but are clueless in general about anyone but themselves. I would love to meet these open minded Brit or Scots. I have met nothing but narrow minded belittling rude people since moving here. People who can not comprehend diversity or Miltie culturalism. That is not to say that Asian or Africans are any better. I have had the 'pleasure' of racism from all the people's of the UK. And I grow up in the South of American during integration. I find it very surprising how I feel like I went back 20 years in time when it come to race relations. Am I proud to be American and no I don't wish to distance myself from that nor do I wish to become a group of people I have found to misinformed and wilfully in the true desire to obtain information or contact with others unlike themselves.

Those who aren't proud to be English have obviously forgotten about how we are one of the richest, economically strongest, most powerful nations in the world, and how we have a very good standard of living. Maybe they'd like to pay for their own education and health care.

Yes, the government is made up of wankers, but that shouldn't stop us being proud of our country as a whole.

Racist bigots. I'm sure some will show their colours in answering this question.

I am English (Birmingham), but currently live in the USA but will be moving to Scotland in August.

I am proud of who I am and of my heritage, but I am not proud of Britain, simply because of its bad international reputation. I think Tony Blair has a lot to answer for. I am also a football (soccer) fan but would never go to a match simply because of the reputation of English fans.

My husband is American and hates it when I remind him of it. Americans have such a bad name, but they're not all bad. Many of my friends here actively seek to distance themselves from the American stereotype and the activities of their president.

No, the UK is pathetic - it's full of ignorant people who whine about everything that is pretty much our fault anyway as we let everyone walk all over us as we try to be so pathetically politically correct, rather than saying, "Hang on, this is OUR country"
