I saw, on Oprah, the idea of keeping a Gratitude Journal, where you write things you are happy about, etc. So, mine started off like that, and has ended up as an every now and then say whatever you want to say happy or mad at the moment journal. Hey, whatever works!

yes i keep a gratitude journal, though i'm not a regular keeper of it, like yourself. i also write affirmations in it, which are positive statements about oneself as part of personal self care, like 'i finally made it to the track for an exhilarating 6k run!' i also take note of what i'm feeling and going through, and overall what's happening in my life.

No, not a journal but I take notes in several ways:
I'm a teacher and I register funny anecdotes from my students, they laugh with me at the end of the year when we read them aloud.
I write the reason why I bought a book on its first page and a comment at the end. It's very interesting as time goes by.
Finally I love travel journals. I always write when we go on holidays. To make it easier all the family cooperate taking notes.Memory sometimes abreviates the story,so it's very funny to see photos AND read comments.

I have a journal of my favorite quotes. It's not a diary or even probably a journal in the most common use of the word, but I like to go back through and look at some of them, and add to it as I see things that move me. It causes me to pay more attention to people when they talk and to appreciate words that really touch my heart. I also have song lyrics in there, if the song really means something to me.

I keep a diary, but don't really write in it everyday, just when something dramatic happens.. good or bad! It helps me to write things that I might be embarrassed to tell people.
