I endorse all the Walmart comments! But in addition to what has already been said about that, they support intensive farming which is why their fruit and veg is terrible. So, for example, their bananas might come from Costa Rica but from huge American owned plantations who underpay workers and drive out local farmers. They intensive farm putting blue bags over ripening bananas and spraying them with insecticides which are highly toxic. The underpaid labourers who do this aren't issued with safe masks and the sprays get into their skin and can make them sick. Walmart see no wrong in these sort of practises and if you look round their stores you'll see that fairtrade products and organically produced products are not given such a prominent place as in so many other supermarkets.

YES! Ours is always packed with peasants blocking up the isles when I want to do my shopping! Everything is so damn cheap EVERYBODY goes there! And another thing - our local Asda has those bloody silly revolving doors - you know, the ones that herd you in like sheep and stop at the smallest touch - I AM NOT A SHEEP AND DONT LIKE BEING HEARDED IN AND OUT! BAA! Oh, I mean Bah!
So - put the prices up - keep the peasants out - and get rid of those doors!

Yes...
I am virtually metres away from an ASDA right now!!!
Their fruit and veg is absolutely off the wall... yuck!!!
And also they sell stuff that has exceeded the best before date for discounted prices which is against the wishes of Health and Safety... plus the fact that their Smart Price brand products taste minging and also their Go Cook! range stuff is a nightmare to cook, everything needs frying... and I can't fry food for my life! Also they use their low prices to get rid of small shops in town, businesses that have been running for generations have to close down, and in addition to that, the children in the ads make my blood boil singing crap versions of songs that I'm not keen on anyway!!!
Phew... thanks for giving me the opportunity to moan,
Anyone got a thread on bad things about Tesco?? Sainsburys, maybe??? :P

I prefer Sainsburys or Tesco. Asda s fruit and veg goes manky really quickly and their food is of poor quality. Plus I don't think it's comfortable to shop in. Also they have hundreds of disabled parking spaces and not nearly enough parent/child spaces. Even they're clothes are crap. I used to think they were excellent. Asdas really gone down hill

The luminous green staff fleeces, its a violation of human rights. Mind you, ALL the staff in my local asda are 16 or 17 (will they ONLY pay for the cheapest staff?) and are spotty useless egits.

Our local branch now has a colleague (that's what ASDA call staff members) constantly announcing special bargains over the PA system - it is so annoying!

Owned by Walmart who are union bashing, worker abusing scum and like all other supermarkets they are about low quality food and appalling treatment of consumers and suppliers alike in the pursuit of the unholy dollar.
Otherwise they're just wonderful - even if they won't get a penny of my cash ever.

well the parent company is wallmart which had some strange practices in america of selling cheap things to knock out their competitors and then increasing their prices when the competition moved on.Although they could not do it here because of the other strong supermarkets.
