I'm starting college in the fall, and after years of private schooling (uniforms), I have a very limited wardrobe. What are some basic items of clothing that a college student should have, and where should I shop?

Try Old Navy. Inexpensive and mildly fashionable. For really cheap, try a thrift store. If you shop online, I highly recommend LandsEnd.com
You'll need at minimum: night clothes, robe, slippers. Jeans, two or three pair. One pair nice slacks and a coordinating sweater or two.
A selection of tee shirts or Polo's.
A hoodie. Get a sweatshirt at your college book store. You'll need to adjust your outerwear for your region, i.e.: rain gear, snow boots, etc.
If you are female (you don't say), a couple of skirts and dresses, from very casual to somewhat fancy. If you are male, you might want a tweedy sport coat or a swede over shirt.
Be sure to have a hefty day pack for schlepping around campus and be sure all your selections are multifunctional! Have a great time!

Although you would never be able to tell the difference, a quarter of the students at college get the majority of their cloths at garage sales and second hand stores.
All you need for college is comfortable clothing. Jeans, shorts, shirts, etc. I've gone in tshirts and sweat pants many days. As long as it doesn't stick out, noone cares.

Jeans, hoodies, and t-shirts. Im starting college next month. Just go comforable people show up in there pj's.

Just get some like jeans and fitted t-shirts not the baggy ones

buy some comfy clothes such as jeans, cute tees, little hoodie jackets and such. u dont needa be too dressy because i know a few people who even go to college in their pjs.

Um, buy some jeans. Just get casual wear... No one really dresses up for college...

comfy clothes! many college students don't dress up much for class. cheap clothes are fine.
