i would like to post my resume on a job website like monster.com, but i do not know what i should put on it. i have a 4 year degree in accounting, but the only experience i have in accounting is an internship that lasted one semester. i worry that employers will not be interested in me, when they could hire someone with 3 years of experience. i worked at taco bell, starbucks, and staples in high school and college. should i put that on the resume, even though its unrelated to accounting?

there are several different types of resumes.
Most places you apply (in person or on the net) will be thru their application and not thru a resume. People with college degrees are usually at least seen by someone, if not interviewed, when they apply. So the way you present and conduct yourself, what you wear and it's appropriateness, etc. is what you will be judged on along with your sheepskin and grade standing. Get the name of the person you talked with and send them a thank you for taking the time to talk with you, and glue your picture to the thank you card. Put your name on the card, and put your return address on the envelope. This should keep your face in front of them to remember you. Then call them back every couple of days to ask if they hired anyone yet, that you're interested in working for them and in particular in the accounting position, and ask them to keep you in mind.

Apply only for "open" positions, otherwise you'll be spinning your wheels and wasting your time and money.

Use good references on your application. Ask them first if you can use their names so they have a prepared comment when the interviewer calls them. Be sure and tell them you're looking for an "accounting" job. Use some references for accounting, and if you decide to apply for some other type job, use different references for that.

To write up a good CV it important to highlight your good points, and experienced you had. Also write a cover letter stating why you are applying for the position. Mention all you strength. Off couse mention taco, bell, starbucks etc its show the employer that your not lazy and hard worker. Even if you have worked in these place the fact that the employer sees that you have experiences in other fields etc. Best of luck in applying for the job

Objectives, Education, Employment History. Yes, include all of your work history, even if it is not related to the job you are seeking.

you write using a half empty pen.. talk about things you REALLY like to do..
then fold it up like a origami crane and then let it sit in your back pocket for days then just throw it at the employer.
