We have a basket attached to the hose of our Kreepy Crawler that does a really good job. We clean it out daily, along with the side pool basket.
We have also placed nets around the plants that drop the most debris into the pool. The fruit trees have to be netted during their flowering stage, and the Pecan trees during their shedding.

Or a smaller pool. Sugest you skim-n-swim. That's where you attach the skimmer to your bod and swim in circles. Good luck with that.
