what were the circumstances for paying the Japanese than the blacks? I'm not asking for reparations just informative answers. How come whites didn't have that "get over it, Japanese, it's in the past" attitude?

There are no excuses for either slavery or the WWII Japanese internment, but, c'mon -- I've never owned a slave, nor has anyone in my family. I wasn't alive during WWII, and while it was wrong, it was a Japanese/American who helped the Japanese home in on Pearl Harbor. Those were very scary days and some very stupid things were done. But I don't think I owe anybody any money for this sort of thing . I DIDN'T DO IT!!

Reparations for slavery just aren't practical. The victims are all dead and as a historical phenomenon, slavery is too far removed.

I'm not sure when the Japanese Americans were given reparations, but my guess is the victims or their children were still alive.

If you can find a living former slave, or even the child of a former slslave, I say give them some money, no problem.

Beyond that, sorry. Not my damned money. There is no reasonable justification for people profiting off the misery of their ancestors, regardless of race. Not to mention, although it would be a sweet deal for middle and upper class blacks, imagine how fast that money would be wasted by the poor. 6 months later, poor Blacks would be in the same predicament.
