Th reason you're getting tired is probably just because you're not used to it. Just keep it up and keep trying to swim a little more every time! When you swim make sure you're making as much use as possible of your arms when they pull the water. Try and keep your hands bent below your body and pulling as much water ar possible. Also try not to breathe every stroke to the left and right, it will make your body move and make it much more difficult to swim. Rather try to breathe every third stroke, it may be harder but it's much better. Also try and keep your body as still as possible ie. not rolling around. When you breathe you need only to move your head and neck. When your arms enter the water at the top of your stroke make sure you stretch out your arms and make your stroke as long as possible, without overdoing it and rolling your body to stretch your arms out longer. When you end your stroke make sure you push right out at your hip. Another thing ammature swimmers often do is to overdo the kick, which lifts your bum out of the water... not a good thing. You need only kick enough to stabilise yourself in the water and once you get faster you can increase the kick. Take it slow at first and try to keep your stroke as controlled as possible, but still relaxed and natural. Good luck! Hope it helped! P.S. Swimming is the best over-all body workout because it works all parts of your body without putting pressure on any of your joints causing problems! Have fun!

You have to swim at a pace that is good for you. Take your time the water is not going anywhere. Practice your breathing and how long you can hold your breath. That will let you know how long you can stay under. Use your arms to help you swim on top of the water and use your legs to help you swim under. When using your legs that will help your arms get rest and when you feel that your arms had enought then go back to the top of the water and try again.

for position, posture and timing i think wendy said it all. look at her answer.

try swimming a lap and rest for 30 seconds, then swim again. this may help you to swim more. once you build up to 6-7 laps before getting tired you can try 2 laps, rest, 2 laps, rest. build this up as far as you want to go.

I'm sure there are professional swimmers out there somewhere, IDK where. But just keep working on it.
