The "clash of civilizations" between East and West started when East met West.
Remember Marco Polo, Ghengis Khan, Salozar, King Richard, the wars in the Bible, the Talmud and all the other religious writings between "East" and "West"?

Pretty much so, and it has been going on since Islam declared war on the west in 1973 (thought some say it was 1979).
What is interesting is that most people don't know the religious undertones to World War II. Hitler said he was the manifestation of God (or God incarnate) and the Emperor of Japan was said to be God in the flesh.
What we have here today is a similar situation where one side (Islam) is saying their version of God is superior to all other version of God.

It's more likely that there will put a melting
together of civilizations.Technology can
defeat war. And communication can bring
down dictatorships.
