I don't know about them giving me culture and freedom any moreso than learning other languages, however I after visiting the East, I did find that fewer people spoke English than in many European countries. So I did get myself some Urdu books.
I do love Asian cultures (some more than others) and hope that I'll be able to add a few words of Urdu and Chinese/Cantonese to my vocabulary.
I also find that knowing a few words makes you more culturally sensitive. If I look at and listen to someone long enough I can generally figure out if they are Idian or Pakistani or Other because I can pick up a few words of Urdu. It's also kinda fun to ride on PIA and recognize a little of what's being said to you.
I wouldn't try to learn both however, because I've seen someone from Chennai and Lahore communicate and when they met upon a word they didn't understand they discussed it in English and then switched back to Urdu/Hindi - hilarious!

Hello the excellent narrow child, sure finding out language is an intriguing procedure. Better concentrate first the language. Especially watch and concentrate the discussion within the Hindi serial utilising headphone. Have this train everyday commonly. Definitely you begin speakme Hindi. Better learn small reviews in Hindi. Then bigger opt for novels. Surely you turn out to be good verse in that language. Same system is to be adopted in nearly all languages.
