Sadly, the classics are not being remade in any similiar way for gamecube. The clossest thing would be super smash brothers melee adventure mode, the first place is a mario like-level.

the new mario brothers game for the nds is as close to the original mario games, the ones for the game cube are 3D whereas the new one for the nds is 2D
