Lebanon.
Voncasec: Yeah, mine's unreliable because YOU said so, right?
It was on Lebanon's side. Read and weep.

I'm a Canadian who was visiting Lebanon and at that time. 2 Israeli soldiers entered Lebanese territory and were abducted by Hezbollah. Do you actually think that Hezbollah can go inside Israel, with all the security that Israel has in the northern border? C'mon! Any excuse for Israel to keep its weapons running...

It really does not matter at this point where the abduction occurred. The point is that both sides are wrong. Hezbollah should not have done it in the first place. They should have pursued the prisoner exchange peacefully and politically.
At the same time, Israel should not have gone crazy and started shooting innocent people left and right. Just like a bully kid on your block who threatens to shoot and kill you if he does not get what he wants.
My feelings tell me that Hezbollah and Israel were both waiting for a simple excuse to start venting out and expressing their ill feeling by killing each other, including innocent civilians from both sides, Lebanon and Israel.
Both are stubborn and do not appreciate each others background. our USA government did not help the situation either. Instead of cooling off this issue, the USA added extra fuel onto the long lasting fire.

The answer is Israel. Here is a link from a reputable news agency as opposed to that Lebanon link.
Hezbollah militants in Lebanon conduct a raid into Israel, killing as many as seven Israeli soldiers and wounding another eight. The militants also capture two Israeli soldiers.

Can you believe anything you read in the news anymore? Depending on which sources you read, you get a different story... hmmm.... Just wondering... does it matter, really? Whether they were captured in Israel or Lebanon, do you really think it would have made a difference in how the events unfolded? I, for one, do not think so! A military campaign, such as the one being displayed, usually takes months if not years to plan out. You had to know what to hit, where to hit, how to hit them, how many bombs to use, which route to fly in, which one to hit first, which one second, etc... It's not as simple as some of you might think. Just the logistics to support such a war effort , alone , would have caused most people to go into a frantic nervous breakdown. Just remember one thing, folks, things are never as simple as they appear! It would not have mattered where the soldiers were captured, nor how they were captured; this war has nothing to do with their captures, anyways. Just think about who has to gain the most out of this war... Does it make sense to cause so much destruction, just for a couple soldiers??? The soldiers were just the pretexts. The decision to go to war had already been decided a long time ago.

The Israeli soldiers were captured, and eight others were killed, in a cross-border raid into Israel by Hezbollah.
If you actually need "sources" for this, you've been living under a rock.
