I need to know a current problem that started because of either party failing to take into consideration the cross-cultural differences between them and whoever else is involved.

Confrontation and differences in conversational styles...

People from some cultures have a very confrontational communication style... Their style of communication sounds alot like arguing, they tend to be a bit loud and very quick to get to the point. Other cultures are very concerned about being polite, saving "face," and may sometimes not get to the point very quickly. If peoples from both these types of cultures were to communicate - type A would become angered at B's inability to be "straight" with them, and type B would probably become angered at what they considered A's rude behavior.

A good one, which takes different forms depending on what culture you look at, is attitudes toward sex. Others are what behaviors are appropriate for men vs. women to have, or what's age-appropriate behavior. But I think a specific problem that is of great actuality and definitely crosses many cultural boundaries is war and aggression.
