what size do i buy?

i have a waste of 30 - 33 inches and want to buy a thong what size should i get. i know this sounds weird.

It's not according to your waist, it's according to your hips. The size chart is usually:

Small/5 if your hips are 36 or 37 inches
Medium/6 if your hips are 38 or 39 inches
Large/7 if your hips are 40 or 41 inches
X-Large/8 if your hips are 42 or 43 inches

What size UNDERWEAR or PANTIES do you wear? That's the same size you would buy!
