No all that would do is get you out of school earlier in June rather than later. As a teacher I certainly need at least 2 days to recover from the last week and prepare for the next. I would gladly give up 1 week in the summer though for 1 extra week around christmas.

No. As a teacher I need more than just a day off to do errands and things like that. I have a lot of grading I do in the evenings, so it's not always easy to get to the store or other places for that matter. Plus there's the consideration of housework and yard work as well. I can spot clean and such during the week, but I need the weekend to really get the house clean. The kids need a break. There are some that take music or dance lessons on the weekend. Some of them are involved in a lot of various activities that can only be done on a Saturday. I know you said selected Saturdays, but even just doing it once a month would be really hard on everyone--bus drivers, janitors, cooks, etc.

No. I love school, and the weekends give me recovery time. I would hate to spend so much time in the summer hanging out with the family doing nothing important. I also like being in control of my life. I'm expected to eat a pound of food per meal at home...I want to cook my own stuff, read as much as I want without siblings bothering me, and most of all, learn. Yes, I'm one of those bookworms. No, I don't play chess.
