first you should try locating it in recycle bin in case you may have not permanently deleted it(ie using shift+del).
if it doesnot happens to be there then you can try using one of the file recovery softwares which are good at recovering lost files due to accidental deletion or drive format from any one of the following sites:
www.recovermyfiles.com
www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/download.htm
www.file-recovery.net/
because u said that it was a doc file : therefore tweak the settings of any one the above softwares to find only the *.doc files(the number of files can run into hundreds ) in the drive >folder where you remember as the most probable place for the files' existence.
wishing best luck for the file recovery.

Not sure what you mean by "didn't copy it right" but the file should still be on the main computer's RECYCLE BIN.

Just double click on the RECYCLE BIN, then highlight the file and right click then choose restore.

Most deleted files will go to the recycle bin. If it is in there just click on it and choose restore. Otherwise you may have just lost it. Sorry.

If I answer this properly i'm going to be booked for abetting against the regulation. besides with the aid of finding on the questions i could say which you won't be able to delete all out of your pc with the aid of formatting it. Even after that the contents would be saved in the stressful disk. The police lab can extract the contents and de-encrypt. So your attempt to erase the contents of the pc is ineffective. extra effectual to offer as much as the police and plead to blame.

I'm not sure if this will work but try to restore windows back to the day before you erased the file. click start, all programs, accesories, system tools, system restore and follow the instructions from there
