The glow from fluorescent lights is not a steady glow like that from an incandescent light. The light is actually like a really fast strobe light as the electrons pass from end to end - thus off and on very quickly. This can cause some people to have headaches and in some people it can trigger seizures. The wavelength of fluorescent lights is hard on some people's eyes, particularly if they wear contact lenses.
The connection between light and mood is well-known. The most frequently described and most severe condition is known as "Seasonal Affective Disorder" ("SAD") in which sufferers become depressed and sad when days are short, and they are not exposed to enough daylight. A treatment for this is exposure to full-spectrum light, like artificial sunlight, for a few hours a day. The light has an effect on the deep structures in the brain that seem to control mood.
The newer fluorescent light bulbs have a spectrum closer to real sunlight and do not have the strobe effect of the long tube fluorescent lights that seem to be everywhere.
My advice? If I could take my own advice, I'd go to Tahiti or someplace that has a lot of sunshine and some really nice beaches...

I dkon't know but I started wearing contacts just one week ago and my vision has improved over 100%
I used to wear glasses for reading, computer, everything, felt eyestrain and once I got contacts, my vision, headaches have improved immensely. I feel like a new sighted person.
Don't think you are too young to get checked out!!!
I work in fluorescent lighting and I can even see better at home when I take my contacts out.....why didn't I do this before. Would have saved me a lot of headaches and I like to change the colour too.

Our bodies are constantly being affected by electro magnetic evergy. If you do some research, different spectrums of light, sound, and color create symptoms. It would be interesting to notice what color you most dislike, red, yellow, blue, purple, green. In chinese medicine, these all have emotional associations. The physical body manufactures symptoms, from emotions.
