Just curious to know how many of you really want to live up to someone else expectation of what they think you should be, do, say, think, talk etc.....
Don't you think it is time to start living life for you???

I have never cared what anyone thought of me. I know what I am. They could never tell me that.

I pretty much only care what my boss thinks so I can keep my job. Other then that I could care less what anyone thinks.
When I was a teen and early 20s I put girl stuff on my mirror in my car. The guys tried to give me a lot of crap about being a wuss but they changed their mind when I got the better lookin women and more dates then they did. Depends on what you want as to what you project. My goal was getting laid and was what I got. Now my goal is keeping my family fed and my bills paid. So I have to worry what people think about the work I do. If it means I dress up I dress up. If my money came from drugs I would dress down. What ever it takes. If the money comes from war I would wear an army outfit of some kind and act like I wanted to kill everyone.
I Just want to go to work and get paid and go home and watch some tv. If someone don't like that then they need to look at someone else.

I really could care less what people think of me. Especially some of the people here on Yahoo Answers. People have a lot to say to me here from behind their keybords and computers but I know in person words will not come out the same. No one governs me or my actions and I don't follow anybody. I consider myself out of the box and beyond. I don't do things any particular way and I search for my own truth even if I was told that what I heard was truth. In life when it boils down we are all alone in finding our place in this world. There's no better way to go about it than your own way. Stop listening to what other people have to say about you! Stop following! Stop listening to the static! Keep the praise and throw away the rest of the garbage.

This was a good question until you got on your soapbox in the last sentence. How do you expect people to give honest answers when you take such an obvious judgmental attitude?
I really do care what other people think (or at least what I think they think), because it's one of the ways I evaluate myself. I'm not saying this is the best way to live. It's just how I am.

It's nice to be thought of in an accepting manner, but when the lights go off and the stars come out at the end of the day, as long as I know inside my own mind that I did nothing to harm anyone, I'm content and I don't really care what others think....as long as I'm ok in my own mind, that's all that matters to me.

I do not care what others think about me, until I am moving in the right direction. We have a saying which means "We can please the God, but not the people".
If you are talkative, they will comment that he talks to much, if you are silent, they will comment that he is reserved and does not talk with others.
I will not change my life or qualities for others, if it does not hurt or effect others. Why should I?

Thats' what I hate most about myself, I care so much what others think of me, how I look, and what I do in life. I'm scared of being judge wrongly, and I am always trying to put myself out there so people can see how great I am so they won't judge me. I know it's sad of me to do this to myself, my husband constantly reminds me, I am great and don't need to do that, or try to prove to others, but I am just so hard headed I guess.

I mainly just care about what my family thinks of me or people that are family to me, but that's only to a certain extent. If I truly believe in something that they don't, I'd still go with my heart even if it angers or disappoints them. Besides that, I don't really care what people think.

I've always cared what others thought about me. I know I shouldn't, but to me its human nature. You can't walk anywhere without seeing another girl compare themselves to someone else. From what I hear, guys do it too. No matter how secure someone is, they are always going to have a few moments of doubt about themselves.

I actually try going against others' expectations, you know--keep 'em on their toes. I see so many others who try and fail, and I figure that I can't be a failure as long as I'm the one making the rules.

I care what people think I hope at least they think I'm a good person no one ever sees eye to eye other wise I'll have to find ways to improve myself to be the better person. I quess it's just a personality flaw. :-)
