Ottawa Ontario author Charles De Lint has fairly lengthy excerpts from a number of his books available on-line. He's best known for his ability to bring old folk tales to life in a modern, urban setting.

Also highly recommend Guy Gavriel Kay. The excerpts may not be as long, but he writes beautifully. He tends to base his work on actual historic events and then re-writes them as near-historic fiction with a twist.

I checked and you can look at articles from The New Yorker (magazine) on line. It is known for the stories.
I read the NYTimes on line - good articles in the Sunday Magazine section.
Search for the magazines you are interested and see which ones allow you to read through the Internet.

I don't know your age so I don't know what type of things you like to read. I would say google a magazine you like and read the articles on that. Otherwise, go to your local library.

I always go to FanFiction.net, or fictionpress.com. You could post your own story, and get reviews there too!
