The previous answer assumes it's your own business and you are not going through an internet offer to get started. I interpret it as you are looking for on-line opportunities from on line advertisers. If I'm right let me say I've spent hundreds of hours trying to find legit opps on-line & believe 98%+ are scams, people will send you links cause they recruit which is a huge part of most scams. The 1%+ that is legit either pays pennies on the hour or is e-bay which is very hit and miss since you have to pay for your ads and sell the right product at the right price.

Before you get into anything, first check them out at http://ripoffreport.com and if you don't find anything there you should do a very thorough internet search before you commit to anything. Best of Luck!

Look for companies that have brick & mortar ties or other ways of substantiating their ethics.

For instance:
We are members of our local Chamber of Commerce (actaully, we're their webmaster),
The local SBDC refers their clients to us and we charge reduced prices or sometimes work pro bono,
We use privacy statements on every web page,.

Look for a company that is equally open and is up front with you about fees and service expectations.
