Yes, you can put an A/C in a window that slide sideways, but it has to be one made for that type of window. Whirlpool makes a good A/C unit, also GE. I've had both over my lifetime and they've both given many years of reliable service. Check with your local dealer about models that will fit your window type.,

You can put a window unit into your opening, if the opened area is wide enough for your unit. If you haven't purchased your window unit yet, measure the opening at it's largest opening width, then buy a unit that size or smaller. Next you will have to put some material above the mounted window unit to keep the rain and wind out. That material can be more glass or something solid. I have seen plywood in that area. After the unit is installed and the piece blocking the elements, above the unit, is installed, they caulk the edges to make sure you have an air tight fit. Your Home Depot can assist you in all aspects of this. Good Luck

Yeah you can do it. But you will have to get a piece of plastic to close the gap above the A/C. Home Depot or Lowes will have it and you will need to cut it close to size. You can use silicon to seal it and it will peel off after it cools off or if you leave it in all year round; in that case. You might want to frame it in. Depends on how rinky dink you want to get. I would remove it each year and put in the garage. The part that you will need mostly is a good bracket to support the unit outside. They have them for about 40 bucks. Easy to install too! Or you can fashion one with regular brackets. Be careful. Air Cons are lop sided in weight so adjust the bracket to the side with more weight. Stay Cool!

i have the same problem. our windows open by going out from the house. if your window was big enough to fit it in, then you would have to cover the top part so bugs stay out. window a/c units are mainly meant for up and down sliding windows

Yes, but you will need to block a larger section of window with wood, etc. I recommend one of the other units where you make a round hole in the side of your house and have the pipe hook to that into your house. It's still portable and you keep the cuttout of your house to plug the hole back up when your done with it in the winter.

You will have to research this on your own. Go to sears, Lowes, Home Depot to see what they have. You will most likely have to fill in the area above the A/C unit with plywood and insulation
