I love wittbelle's answer. too cute.
Listen, had I had the mental and financial abilities to build a second floor or for that matter a dog house at all, I'd make a very nice cottage for my dogs with air conditioner and place in a sofa and a tv with a special doggy door for them to go in and out when they needed to deal with their needs. This of course would be inside a regular door which I would have someone go to the doggy home and keep clean on a regular basis. In the meatime, my dogs use the underneath portion of my deck to climb under and keep warm in winter and shaded in summer when I am not home. Then, I open the door and allow them to come in the house after they shake off their mess in the outside room (the room between the house and outside). I wish I had a better system like yours instead of dreams.

Nothing wrong with it, if it still keeps the dog comfortable.

As long as you haven't broken any local ordinances, it's your dog, your doghouse, and your property.
