I found a Tesco Credit Card in the street so I phoned the number on the back of the card to report it.I got through to an automated service which asked me to enter the card number, so I did. Then it asked me to enter the expiry date ,so I did. Then it asked me to enter my birth date, so thinking that if I put in any obviously wrong date it would put me through to a person , I entered my 9 year old daughters birth date. It then told me the balance on the card, the remaining credit available and then realed off "my" last transactions until I cleared down. Not very high security is it Tesco?.. but as they say "every little helps".

That does not surprise me. Tesco does not use their chip and pin in the correct manner. Chip and pin was designed to cut out the assistant swiping the credit or debit card (as this is when the card is copied). However, the way they have their chip and pin programmed the assistant still has to swipe the card at the till. This is wrong and I have written to Tesco Head Office but was told they have no plans to change the way they do it. I have therefore voted with my feet and shop where they use chip and pin correctly.

Tescos are unbelievable, my dad who at the time was in his late 50's, in a full time job, owned his own house, married for years, never had any debt problems applied for a tesco's credit card and got turned down point blank, yet brother who was a student at the time, no parttime job, had a few 'problems' got one with a £500 credit limit. MMMMMMMMMmmmmmm makes you think that the credit scoring system they use may be a bit on the dodgy side

No its not good security, but good of you to point it out.
Like you say everything is so automated on phone it takes you through about 20 options until you get a choice (if u are lucky) to speak to an advisor.
But now thats leaving you with how do you report the card ??

Click groceries. Then select my account Fill in the New Customer Form. Or if you are registered it could be the system is recognizing your card as either a Visa, Maestro, Visa Electron or a MasterCard. All those can have secure code.

even worse... you can get anyones card....go through the self pay till where you scan the goods yourself, it asks you to swipe the card...and that's it, no pin number required. So if you lose your card, head for the nearest Tesco's...its probably being used there.
