i'm not even sure what the game is, but most i gave up trying to win a long time ago.

No, I like competing and for me the real competition is with myself and how much I can push myself. If I lose a competition I try to figure out where I can improve my chances for next time. I don't like to lose, but who does? But, when competing someone always comes in second. It should only make you strive harder.
You won't always win the competition, but you are never "a loser" IF you learn from the whole experience. Life is all about lessons! Competing tells you a lot about who you are and what you are capable of in difficult/stressful situations, and also what it takes to win or come out on top. Sometimes winning is also about luck and being in the right place at the right time, it isn't always about who is actually "the best."
