3. In the box near the top type the new home page or, if you are on the page, click on "Use Current".
In Firefox:

2. Click on "Options"
3. In the box near the top, type the new home page, or click "Use Current Page" or "Use Bookmark"

If you are using (IE) Internet Explorer as your browser
1: Click on tools on the top page menu
2: Then select Internet Options on the drop down menu
3: At the top of the general tab is a box where you type the home page address in
It works in a similar way for other browsers

You should specify what browser you're using...Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera...there's a ton. The methods vary, but the basic principle is the same. There should be a Preferences menu, probably under "Tools". If it's not there, try "Edit". Under a "General" section, or something like it, there should be a homepage prompt. Simply type in the URL you want to use.

either go into control panel then click setup or add internet connections, then click on general, then type the address in, or go to the page and click the button that says add as your home page.

It is usual to name it index.html
That is what the server usually assumes is the home page to be shown is a user doesn't specifically name a page.
