Most of the time i think they're laughing at my feet. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine brings in George's dad into the salon to see what they are saying.

hey just for fun, next time take a small pocket tape recorder and record during your visit. make sure you have a 60 or 90 minute tape so it won't run out. Then take it to a friend or anyone you trust who speaks their language(perhaps even at the university) and ask them if they'd mind interpreting for you. You may even plug in head phones and pretend like you were actually listening to something so they wouldn't think you were recording if they can see the device. It could be a real laugh! And if they were saying things that are not that nice you could take your business elsewhere!

Well I am asian, so I know what they are saying to me. It could be that they are laughing at you cause you have bad nails, or just talking.

I always wondered that until I started working in a restaurant where everyone spoke another language. When I learned the language, I realized that most of the time, the workers are talking about their family, children, sports, etc. However, if you are a particularly rude or annoying customer, then they may be talking about you. So, for the most part they are just like us, except they don't have to wait for a rude customer to leave before they talk about her.

What an overblown ego you have, to think that you could possibly be interesting enough to be a topic of conversation among strangers. Get over yourself and get over your paranoia!
