I know there are two types, the x box 360 and the x box 360 core. what's the difference and which pack is better value? any advice would be great.

The XBOX 360 core does not include the hard drive, wireless controllers or the headset. You're better off getting the XBOX 360 Premium because that includes all that stuff and if you wanted to add those items to the core system later, the hard drive itself will cost you $100.
The Core System is $299 and the Premium System is $399 so if you bought the hard drive for the core system later then you just bought yourself the Premium version. Also, some games require the hard drive to work correctly and it is required to enable regular XBOX 360 games to play. The Premium system is the better buy.
Also note a HD-DVD drive for the XBOX 360 is going to be released as an add-on later this year.

I suggest the Premium Xbox 360 not the Core. Because you are not getting the real deal if you get the core.

get the premium package that comes with a hard drive, a wireless controller, a remote, and an HD cable. Buying this package is a way better value, beacause your boyfriend would probably buy the hard drive anyway. Also, if youre buying a 360 for your boyfriend, you rock!

get the xbox 360.. its worth it. you never know if he has an HDTV so it comes in handy. And the 400 dollar one includes alot of important stuff.

the xbox core comes witout a 20gb hardrive...which u would later need to save game data..so i suggest you buy the one that has everything it comes with wireless remotes and with the hardrive..just ask at your local game store that you want an xbox360 and they'll give u the one with everything.
