im set to marry my fiancee in november who is filipina. i am caucasian and its never once crossed my mind. ive never cared about society or its preconceptions. when i look at her, all i see is the love there. i dont see a difference between us. and i think its awesome that two people from different backgrounds and ethnicities can unite within their love, its really an amazing thing. and dont forget, interracial couples have the most beautiful kids, thats a fact ;) best of luck to you in the future and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Some people will always have a problem with it. There is nothing you can do about it. Rid your life of those people and if necessary, move to a town or city that it isn't such a big deal. You can't change small minded people with things like facts. I'm sure it's always a bit difficult but just ignore the ignorant.

I am in an interracial marriage myself and I haven't found your observation to be true. I've never had anyone comment, at least not in a negative way, regarding the fact that my spouse and I are of a different race.
Perhaps it is a question of where you live. I am from the San Francisco bay area and interracial marriages here are quite common.
My advice is to simply ignore any such remarks, they are not worthy of a response.

Yeah, I'm Black and married to a Latino. We've come across some displays of ignorance, but nothing too serious. Mostly stares when we go out places. We have 3 kids, and their skin colors range from chocolate brown to peanut butter to caramel-cinnamon color, so whenever someone hears our kids call my husband "daddy", that's when we really get stared at. Another person asked a question similar to yours a while ago, and I told her of an experience I had picking my husband up from the airport with the kids. We met at baggage claims and the kids and I all hugged him. People saw that, and were tripping over their luggage from staring so hard. It was crazy. My husband says that where he's from, interracial couples are a lot more commonplace. So when he gets out of the military, we're moving to where he's from, because where I'm from, it's not widely accepted at all! Good luck to you!

A lot of people have been brought up to think certain ways. Now a days most of this racial discrmination is fading but you still find those few people who where raised in a house that did no beleive in inter-racial socializing. It isn't there fault a lot of times, they are just ignorant to the situation at hand.
It is not anyone else's business who is with whom, it all depends on the person and family history, I would assume.

now who do you mean by "people" who have problems with it? old fogeys who grew up during segregation might have problems, or a few racist people you might meet along the way, but eveyone I know is fine with it. I can't think of one person who thinks interracial relationships are wrong. anyway, it's never race, it's always about color which is even more stupid. I mean, I bet no one would have a problem if an italian married an irsh person cuz they're both "white". ignore the naysayers and live your life with who you love. teach your kids to be strong. they will be beautiful.

People believe this stuff for many different reasons. Alot of it has to do with the way people are raised. It sucks and its stupid that there are still people like this in this day and age but the cruel fact of it is there may always be idiots out there that think one skin color is better than the other.

I actually believe that MOST people have NO problem with this. I think you are listening to a vocal few instead of the silent majority. Those who approve say nothing..what is there to say? Would you prefer it if I came up to you, or your friend, and say..."Gee, it is so nice to see that you have married outside your race?" That makes no sense what so ever. I think that, if you really add up the number of those who seem to have a problem and compare it to the number of people who say nothing, act as if nothing unusual exists, you will come up with a very different attitude. It is your life, your friends life...both of you live it as you see fit. And that is just fine with most people. For those of whom it creates a problem, they can just F*** off.

I'm Latino ( Guatemalan,Honduran,Chinese, and Indian)...my girl is black from Nigeria but born here. there are many reason that cause this. there cant be one because its too large of a sample size to be just only be one answer. It can be the way they were raised. planting the seed of prejudice. Ignorance, bigotry, discriminate in thought to ones self. look these words up and question it. Soak it into your brain....swallow into your soul..understand it. A Baby isn't born to hatred...it can only learn it.

some people believe that inter racial marriages dilute the purity of a race. some people believe those marriages improve the race i.e. Derek Jeter (baseball), Prince (music) just to name a couple of better known people that are the products of inter racial unions. not everyone is against these marriages. give it a try and good luck.
