My friend puts up pictures of really pretty girls and says it's her. I go to school with her. She even puts up a fake name and age! And she acts sort of different on there.

In real life, she says I'm her best friend, but on the internet she calls lots of people her best friend - particularly one girl who's her "bestest friend ever and no-one can replace her."

If someone catches on to this, they will post a comment on her Bebo or Dark Starlings account, but she just deletes the comment and pretends it was never there.

She doesn't know I know about this, but I have left subtle hints, and I've been talking more about fake people recently. But she just continues creating this fake life for herself.

Should I just let her get on with it? We have two particular close friends who we hang around with, but they don't know what she's doing - just me.
We are both 14 and over these 6 weeks holidays I have ignored her texts because I don't want to be friends with a fake. Am I being silly?

i think some people do what your mate is doing on the internet. it is a place for people to be a different to what they am like in real life. i dont mean everybody just some people. for example say a person isnt very chatty in real life but on the internet seem very out going chatty and funny..i think if its not affecting her in real life then just let her get on with it. and you are her real best friend. i wouldnt worry about things she says to other people on the internet. there just net friends. but like i say if she changes in real life then yeah get worried but if not then just let her get in with it.

or to put your mind at rest tell her you know and ask her why she is different on the net then to what she is in real life..

If everybody on the internet that lied had to suddenly stop there would be maybe a hundred at the most worldwide, what she is doing isn't a crime & if it isn't nasty or hurting anyone then leave it be.
Her internet life isn't real life so don't be upset it's only a computer and not real.

If the fact that she's like this online upsets you so much then either don't read what she writes or lose a good friend to you in real life because you don't like her games on the web

She just probably a little insecure and enjoys the attention she gets from pretending to be someone else. Which is okay as long as she doesn't take it too far like meeting perverts from the Internet or whatever... The Internet is a place where you can be whoever you want to and as long as its not hurting then i think its OK. She wouldn't be someone who I'd trust completely as a best friend but she seem OK as a mate...

Well...you are doing good thing....just keep warning your friend in straight manner not just in subtle ways. Friendship especially on net must be made with pure interest because sometimes consequences of fake identity proves dire results.

Why not talk to her about it, your going on about her being fake but your keeping it from her that you know what she's been up to.

I DON'T THINK YOUR BEING SILLY, HOWEVER A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T USE THEIR REAL IDENTITY ON THE INTERNET.MAYBE WHEN SHE CALLS YOU HER BEST FRIEND YOU ENTERED HER "FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE". LET HER HAVE HER FUN MAYBE SHE'S LONELY AND NEEDS A FRIEND... AS LONG AS SHE DOESN'T TRASH YOU, IT SHOULDN'T BOTHER YOU.... HEY IF IT BOTHERS YOU THAT MUCH TELL HER.

BY THE WAY IS YOUR REAL NAME STRAWBERRY?????
