Are Americans stupid?

Question

First they say they don't give a f**k what the world thinks about Iraq, global warming etc-then they get worked up when people post questions saying they don't like them.

How stupid can they get?

Hi,
I am sure there must be plenty of intelligent Americans it must just be only the stupid ones we hear of. Perhaps the clever ones are so ashamed they keep quiet? Actually I wondered if I was being a little over critical, then I read comments by Danaofc2, Andy g, Mary Elizabeth and True Friend and I remembered why I formed this impression. I mean anyone who disagrees with them is a communist - doh! please engage brain before speaking. Also, read some history before you refer to America winning WW2

First you can't change facts by opinion. Otherwise we could just vote out the law of gravity and float off into space. So just going along with eveyone else doesn't make you right. Sticking with the herd is good for cows, sheep and euroweenies. But real people like to make up their own minds.

On the other hand you are correct we are stupid and I hope we don't stay stuck on stupid. We have around 100,000 troops in Europe that are doing nothing but pumping money into the socialist economies there, where most seem to hate us, that is stupid.

We have about 70,000 troops in Japan, allowing them to not take responsibility for their own defense. That is stupid.

We have over 30,000 troops in South Korea, allowing them to not take responsibility for their own defense, That is stupid.

We pay the highest dues to belong to the U.N. an organization that works against American interest at every turn. That is stupid.

We belong to Nato, a defense organization with no purpose other than to pump money into the socialist economies of Europe, who hate us, that is stupid.

Keep up the good work, maybe someday we will dislodge ourselves from stupid, imagine how much better off we could be if the tax dollars for all that stupidity stayed in the pockets of stupid american tax payers.

I'm sorry you're so angry Jason. Based on all your questions, it's clear you have some misinformation about the USA and subsequently have come up with some rather unfortunate generalisations about an extremely diverse country of 300 million people, half of which did not vote for their current leader and more than 2/3s of which do not support the current administrations stance on a number of hot-topic issues. Having spent half my life in the UK and half my life in the US, I can assure you all Americans are not stupid, just like I can tell you all Brits are not CHAVs and do not all have bad teeth or all go to football matches just to get into punch ups. It's a shame your questions and answers aren't laced with such vitriol. If they were less explosive, I think they would probably be the basis for some interesting dialog. When you refer to all American as "f****** stupid" in this question (for one of several examples) you weren't really expecting them to be open to discussion, were you? No... just like you, when you're attacked, you'll be on the defensive every time. Now... I'm going down the Coach and Horses for a pint. You should do the same.

Americans are the smartest people in the world because they have the most powerful country on Earth and influence every aspect of global affairs. Whenever I go to Europe, I laugh at all the teenagers trying their best to imitate American fashions and attitudes. When I went to school in Germany I was automatically "cool" for being from America.

Anyone who calls Americans dumb is obviously jealous. How can a nation of people who run the world be stupid?

Americans have always been the errant hair in the scalp of the world. They do things on THEIR time table and expect the world to understand. THe great thing is that Americans exhibit concern about the world around them, eventhough they don't have to. Imagine how simple it could be to sit in your average income home, and enjoy your average income sitcom, and lifestyle and not care about the world. But we see that is not the case. Missionaries come from America, peace keepers come from America, and at the end of the day empathy comes from America, and it shouldn't be confused with stupidity. I think the word you are looking for is naivite. They have never experienced the things the rest of the world has. Bless them, hopefully they never will.

What do yah mean we don't give a f*ck what the world thinks about Iraq?? If a bigger percentage of people here in the US oppose the war... why in the hell wouldn't we care about what the world thinks?? Personally I care way more about what the world thinks... because I don't want to be on anyones bad side because our stupid president wanted to go to war way more than the people did.... and the fact that we are all getting tired of paying for both sides of this war...

If you don't like americans you don't like us because of what our president has portrayed us as...

Hey, Micheal Moore revealed that ages ago in his book, 'Stupid White Men'.

Way to go America! Keep chomping on your burgers and guzzling your diet coke, while your (finally) elected president brings the world to disaster just so you can afford to get your global warming SUVs to the mall.

Your may have prezzie barged illegaly into the oval office first time round while the sheepish populace stood passively, but who put him there again, may I ask?

Ummm...the one thing you probably don't realize is that the terrorists basically have brought this unto themselves. Bombing innocent civilians, attacking military posts.

It's called protection.

As for global warming, keep listening to Gore and Chirac. I'm sure they're in bed together. Watch out for the ugly kids they produce, hell, you might be one of them.

Some Americans ARE stupid. So are some Iranians, Iraqis, Chinese, etc. But, to say that all Americans are stupid is really stupid!

America can't even feed its poor or conquer racism this country has a lot it has to work out. I can understand why people would say America is stupid.
