a liger is the result of breeding a tiger and lion together. there are a few surviving examples but they dont have a very long lifespan because of gene weaknesses. its kinda like when the british royalty wanted to keep their bloodline 'pure' so they only had kids within their family, which resulted in a lot of hereditary diseases. lions and tigers are so closely related that breeding them together results in the same abnormalities which give them weak joints, bad eyesight, smaller organs and other shortfalls

It's a hybrid of a lion and a tiger. In this case, it's a male lion that mates with a female tiger (the male species always comes first).
