I'm going to Hawaii next week and on my 4th day in Hawaii will be my 28th day after my period, it usually is a few days late, but I want to have tampons just incase it comes.
I am 15 and have never used one before, I've tried before, but gave up after about 5 minutes b/c I didn't "need" to wear one (I wasn't going to swim or anything.)
What's the best one for me? I am most worried about putting it in, but I still want good protection...
I'm thinking...
The tampax one for teens
or
Playtex gentle glide
Which one should I get!? Or do you know of any others?
Is it hard to put it in? Last time I tired was a year ago or so and I gave up b/c I couldn't get it "in" and I didn't want to shove it in incase I might "hurt" myself, you know what I mean?
Any suggestion please say! Thanks!

You may want to try a applicator-less tampon. I used to have problems with tampons when I was a teen until one of my friends recommended that I try the applicator-less tampons made by o.b. It's a little icky, but you get used to it and the types without applicators just seem more intuitive to put in. Haven't had a problem with putting a tampon in since!

I myself, have heard from many different girls (all my friends and some family), that when they tried to use a tampon before they had sexual intercourse, that it was just about impossible and that it really hurt, but after they did have sexual intercourse a few times, they decided to try, and they had no problems after that, and that it worked fine. So if you haven't, that could be a potential problem, however that doesn't affect all women, but it's something to think about and be aware of. I myself would personally go for a brand with a plastic applicator...I think that would make it easier. And as far as brands go, look at each tampon "opens" when saturated...pick the one that you think would be most helpful to your body type. And if you don't want one with an applicator, they have kinds without applicators that you insert with your one fingers...which may feel more comfortable...some women feel wierd about putting the applicator "up there". I believe the brand without applicators is O.B. And remember no matter what brand you buy, to always read the directions that come with it, because it also has warnings about things you should be aware, and each brand may bring something new to your knowledge. I hope this helps! And have a great time in Hawaii.

The best way at that age to insert, I am prone to Tampax for teens, is to put one foot on the toilet while standing, take a breath try to relax it makes it easier then remember if it is not all the way in it will come back out. Tampax offered free samples and video a long time ago call and see if they still do. As long as the string hangs out it can be removed they are made to be put there so don't worry about getting hurt not a issue. Having clean hands and changing them are important

As you are 15 and I am assuming a virgin any thing marked teen or gentle should work for you - be patient and gentle with yourself when inserting - be dure to read the directions and I would go one step further to suggest you try inerting one (or two but not at the same time) prior to your period - this practice will make it easier when you have to insert it for the real thing - just take it out right away - you never want to wear one when you do not need one and when you do need one do not wear for more than the recommended time (I believe that max is 4 hours) without changing it - hope this helps - and remember to ralx if you are tense it will be harder to do - have a great trip - T

1. Take some pads with you (the slender ones no one can notice).
2. Try the slender regular ones.
3. Stay calm, because if you are nervous, the tampon won't go in.
4. Try propping your foot up on the edge of the tub while following the insertion guidelines provided in the box. You may have to adjust the angle until the tampon starts to go in.
5. You can use a little KY jelly or other personal lubricant to help get the tampon in.
6. Good luck! ;)

ok well this is really weird to be putting up on the internet... but i would use playtex gentle glide, or any playtex for that matter... the plastic is more comfortable than the cardboard.. and if you want to eliminate the applicator you could use ob and just shove it up there...
if you go with playtex you need to insert the tampon (hold onto the sides) into your vagina and then push up on the bottom of the applicator ... this releases the tampon into your vagina and you can remove the rest of the applicator and throw it away. you should have a string dangling from your vagina, you pull this when it is time to change it.
practice on your hand or something, or just push it out to see.
i go with playtex and buy the half regular and half heavy, wear a light days panty liner.. depending on how heavy your period is. so you can see... do not exceed leaving the tampon inside of you more than 7-8 hours.

Tampax Pearl are the ones I prefer to use. They have instructions on how to put it in inside the box, read those you shouldn't worry about hurting yourself. Good luck.

I think the tampax one would be best for first timers. They are the ones I used when I first tried one.
When you put it in, it shouldn't hurt if you are doing it right. Read the instructions carefully and you will be fine.

I thought the Playtex were gentler.
Your body curves slightly inside. Just take a few and try, keep at it until you've mastered it. Be as relaxed as you can.
A vacation may not be the best place to try something new.
You won't hurt yourself. Good luck.
