(b) sounds better to me...even though everyone else is answering with (a). My argument for (b) is that "none" is singular. For example, one would say "no one was correct." I believe that that should also apply to "none" in this case then.
But I'm not a native English speaker...perhaps I'm wrong, but I do speak, write, and understand six languages, and the rules often apply to similar situations in different languages.

my vote is (b) cos none shd be singular since nobody is singular..
and i think to say "none of the answers is correct" is betta rather than "none of the answers are correct".

a) is the right one.
You'd say:
None of those were correct;
or:
That wasn't correct.
You wouldn't say:
None of those was correct.
In that sense, 'none' is plural.
