If its like the ones I have, I grow them in pots with regular soil, and they can get pretty big. The more water you give, the more they grow, and you can keep them in relatively dry soil (a little more water in the spring and summer though). My one plant is probably about 4 feet tall and still growing. But they're great plants though, I highly recommend them. One tip: put several in a pot together, cuz as they grow they will start to drop the bottom leaves and leave a bare stem, so having a few together keeps it from looking strange, sickly or Dr. Seuss-ish. But overall it's one of my favorite plants!

Actually, I bought one yesterday Dragon Tree (Dracaena Bicolour) the information on the label that came with it says
Position - Good natural light in a warm room avoid direct sunlight and draughts. Temperature - Warm (a bit vague)
Watering - Keep well watered during growing/flowering season. Keep moist during winter. Do not allow compost to become waterlogged. Feeding - Feed regularly with baby-bio houseplant feed during growing season. Other information - Remove dead blooms to prolong flowering period. Use leafshine wipes for cleaning. Hope this helps, but there are no sign of flowers/blooms on my plant. My plant is about 18 ins. there were others in the store about 3/4 ft tall.

Spikes are annuals and are normally put in pots and hanging baskets. They will grow between 2 1/2 to 4 ft. They are easy to grow and very hardy, even living through the winter in certain areas.

Hi-It depends are where you live and what kind of dracena you buy. Typical annual dracena spikes used in the mid-west and northeast, that are for planters, will grow about 18-24".

There are plently of other dracenas, including the houseplants, which get 6' and higher, depending on conditions. Of course, if you are in warm climate, that type of dracena may be an outdoor plant to you.
