Thats some answer from superhoppete. I assume he is not in the Diplomatic Corps and hopefully doesn't have a Passport. It could be difficult to get tickets to see the top teams because of season ticket holders and games being pretty much booked out in advance. Most of them have online ticket booking so try that avenue for the area you will be staying in. Good luck and enjoy the Football or Soccer.Doesn't matter what you call it-its still the same game.

Mr. American, I'm American also. I live in Peterborough. They are in the lower leagues. Don't bother with them. I'm a Gooner, that's an Arsenal fan. They are fun to watch when they get it together. It might be difficult getting tickets to see them. Trouble is, the better teams i.e. Arsenal, Man U. (Manchester United), Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham are not easy to get tickets for. Besides, Man U. and Chelsea play dirty.

well Dumb American wanting to go to a soccer, sorry, football game - if you wanna see a real football match go to London and try to get tickets for Arsenal and see Henry:

"Now if you come on down to hibery
You could see Thiery Henry
He is the best player you will ever see
Thiery-ery-Henry"

To see a game played in the true spirit of football, and a friendly atmosphere try FC United Of Manchester who play at Gigg Lane in Bury, Manchester.

Arsenal. They are the most exciting team to watch, are located in London and just opened a big new stadium. Their big rival is London neighbor Tottenham, also a fun team to watch. Just stay away from Chelsea. They are good but boring.

Everton. Its in the city of Liverpool so you can go and see the birthplace of the Beatles at the same time!! And you got it right by the way, football not soccer

wait for the season to start and then go to your nearest ground-just make sure you are standing in the right set of the crowd-thats the team that play at that stadium for a home game-if you can stay away from premiership games you'll save a lot of money and maybe see a better game

Err, wouldn't it depend on what part of the UK you're going to? I realise that Americans think the country's about 4 miles square, but it's actually a bit bigger than that!
